FreeDink is a complete rewrite of the Dink engine with close compatibility that runs on multiple platforms. FreeDink is not simply a Linux port, as it also runs on Macintosh and Windows. FreeDink can currently run the original game as well as D-Mods, although problems still persist that are being ironed out as new versions keep coming out.
FreeDink is free software, and distributed under the GNU General Public License. Some of the music and sounds from Original Dink could not be distributed under this license, and had to be left out of FreeDink releases. Suitable replacements are still being searched.
The project is maintained by Sylvain Beucler (also known as Beuc).
